I had dinner at The Reef on Saturday. Everything was delicious! And the prices were good. Most of the menu was less than $20, ranging from fish tacos and po boys for around $10-$11 and salmon and tuna entrees for around $17. It's still BYOB w/o a corkage fee. They don't have a license to serve alcohol yet. This past weekend their special was 35 cent raw oysters. You could get a dozen for around $4! They are going to continue their specials. Our awesome service, Stephanie, said they'll even have hot wing specials eventually. CHECK IT OUT!!!

I like to think that if we can ride out any turbulence between now and the Kroc Center opening (and, more distant, the establishment of whatever redevelopment happens south of there on the fairgrounds) we will suddenly find CY to be more vibrant and sustainable than ever. One of our issues is lack of through traffic but I'm guessing new draws east of CY will bring more business and traffic into our neighborhoods. we already have tasted the downsides to that in the extreme (UM football, Memphest) but we're all ready to enjoy some of the upsides as well.

Eat and shop local. If only there was a decent wine shop down our way.

I have to second the comment about walking for cheese. I'm in! I have never been more psyched about something coming to CY than Au Fond. We have talked almost weekly about why there isn't something like that here already! Now it's coming. We just need a Trader Joe's over by the Kroc Center and we're all set! ;-)
