Residents of Cooper-Young, you may or may not realize that you live in the Lick Creek Storm Water Basin where sanitary basement sewer backups are a problem in heavy rain events. (The Lick Creek Basin is from Fairgrounds and York at Cooper on the south all the way north through Overton Park across North Parkway west to Claybrook at Jackson.) The Lick Creek Storm Water Coalition is working with several neighborhood groups, VECA, Evergreen, Hein Park, Central Gardens, and Cooper Young to collect information about the rain event sanitary basement backup problem and present it to Public Works at a public meeting August 26th at Evergreen Presbyterian Church.
It has been hard to contact all midtown neighborhood groups, but we are hoping you will share this posting to your own Facebook page or e-mail it to your own neighborhood or concerned individuals.
If you or your neighbors have been having problems in rain events with sanitary sewer backups in their basements please distribute the survey link below and and encourage people to participate.
