GreenUp Festival this Saturday – Cooper-Young Receiving Award
We invite all Cooper-Young residents to come out to the first annual Greenup Memphis Festival at South Front Street and GE Patterson (next to the Memphis Farmer’s Market) this Saturday at 11 am. Join Mayor A C Wharton, fellow Cooper-Young residents and other Memphians for a new festival celebrating things you can do to make Memphis both more eco-friendly and a more attractive place to live.
The CYCA will be receiving an award for the recent clean-up in September, so if you have participated in a clean-up in the past, or plan to in the future, we’d love to see you there. If you would like to attend, we ask that you please wear a Cooper-Young shirt (if available) so we can all find each other and arrive by the main stage by 11:30 am. The presentation is scheduled to start closely thereafter, and photos with the Mayor will be possible after the presentation.
Live music, festival food, interesting exhibits, local vendors (including Cooper-Young artists), prizes & more will be at the festival. It’s sure to be a fun and educational event! We would love to know who is planning on coming, so if possible, please RSVP to the Beautification Committee Chair, Kristan Huntley, by Friday evening at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can all plan to meet up.
To help make CY a safe place to enjoy Halloween, yard signs will be posted around the neighborhood asking people to please park and walk (not drive and run) and to end trick’or’treating by 8pm. The Union Station has designated police officers patrolling our neighborhood Friday, Saturday and Sunday night as well. Please remember to keep an eye out and report any suspicious or potentially unsafe behavior by immediately calling 901-545-COPS. Have fun out there and be safe!
