5th Annual Holiday Recycled Bicycle Giveaway

Cooper Young’s Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop wants your unused and outgrown bikes:

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, in conjunction with community partners, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop, YMCA of Memphis, Peddler Bike Shop, Mid-South Trails Association, and Dunkin’ Donuts, presents the 5th Annual Holiday Recycled Bicycle Giveaway on December 18, 2010. 30 children from the Binghampton neighborhood will receive refurbished bicycles after taking part in bicycle safety classes, riding courses, and mechanical building lessons during the month of December. The program will culminate on December 18, 2010 when the children will be given their bicycles and are escorted on a ride down the newly established 6.5 mile Shelby Farms Greenline.

Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop will be coordinating the efforts to refurbish bicycles for this giveaway. Any donations of old, unused bicycles and parts are welcome. Donations can be made to Shelby Farms Park Visitor’s Center (500 North Pine Lake Drive), Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop (1000 South Cooper Street), or Dunkin’ Donuts (1540 Union Avenue) during normal operating hours.

For details about the event, please contact Kyle Wagenschutz, Director, Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop (revolutionsbikeshop@gmail.com) or Matt Farr, Education and Outreach Coordinator, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (mfarr@shelbyfarmspark.com).
