I Love Memphis Mural Coming to Cooper-Young

Mural SiteThrough a joint effort of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau, the City of Memphis and the Urban Arts Commission, the retaining wall on Cooper Street (near Central and across from Bluff City) is going to be transformed into an” I Love Memphis” mural.

To celebrate the mural and National Travel & Tourism Week, the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau is holding a party to celebrate.  The celebration is May 12th from 4- 7 pm. There will be music from the Wuvbirds, dancers from New Ballet School, food and drinks and giant post-it notes so you can add the reasons that you love Memphis to the wall.

They will also be giving away a pair of Wanda Jackson tickets and announcing how to enter the public-submitted design contest.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more information, please visit the I Love Memphis Blog or see this Business Journal article.

  1. And here i thought the city was out of money. silly me.

  2. I think the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau is paying for these 10 murals. Also, they’re only costing $500 each, as the artists are donating their services. Not a bad deal for a mural which will look a lot better than what’s currently there.
