World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest

Moves to Tiger Lane/Fairgrounds

As many of you are aware the Memphis in May BBQ Festival  has been relocated to the Tiger Lane/Fairgrounds property, due to the flooding of the Mississippi River.   Please be prepared for increased traffic during load-in, and event days.   The following information is to give you an idea of what’s happening when with the festival:


Load in will start to take place on Saturday May 7th from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Times are staggered and teams will enter from Central Avenue ( Eastbound only) turning right on Early Maxwell, from Southern Avenue (Westbound only) turning right on Early Maxwell.  There will also be load in on Sunday, May 8th,  from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. for Patio Porker teams.


Wednesday May 11

5:30 p.m. Park opens to public for family and friends night

10:00 p.m. Park closes


Thursday, May 12

11:00 a.m.      Park Opens

5:30 p.m.        Opening Ceremonies

6:00 p.m.        Ms. Piggie Idol Contest

8:00 p.m.        Awards

8:30 p.m.        Live Entertainment “Pam & Jerry”

12:00 a.m.      Park Closes


Friday, May 13

11:00 a.m.      Park Opens

12:30p.m.       Ancillary Judging

5:00 p.m.        Cold Hard Cash Show

6:30 p.m.        Awards

7:30 p.m.        Live Entertainment “Tonic”

12:00 a.m.      Park Closes


Saturday, May 14

10:00 a.m.                  Park Opens

11:00 a.m.                  Judging Starts

6:30 p.m.                    Awards

8:00 p.m.                    Live Entertainment “Clarence Carter”

10:00 p.m.                  Park Closes


Thursday – Saturday

Traffic will be routed in the same fashion as football games and other major events.  MPD will also have a presence, at all Access points of the Fairgrounds property (off Central, S. Hollywood, Southern, and East Parkway) and will remain until the property is closed and clear.


As with all major events at Tiger Lane, Memphis Police Department will have increased patrols within the area.
