Cooper Young – Art Contest for Mid-South Students

The Cooper Young Festival is celebrating the young artists in the Mid-South area with our annual Young Artist Contest.  This contest is open to all children, in all Memphis communities, grades 1-12 and is sponsored by Lenny’s Sub Shop.  Hosted by Peabody Elementary School, this event is held to encourage the love of art in school age children.

“Communities Coming Together” is the theme of this year’s contest. All work must by original and no larger in size than 12 inches by 18 inches.  It may be mounted on construction paper, but should not be framed, mounted on stretch boards or overly heavy.

All entries and winners will be on exhibit for viewing at the Peabody School cafeteria, 2086 Young Avenue, during the reception on Thursday, November 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm with an award ceremony at 6:30 pm.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:  $500 First Place, $100 Second Place, $75 Third Place and $50 Honorable Mention for children in the 1st – 4th grade category, 5th – 8th grade category, and 9th – 12th grade category.

Deadline for entries is Friday, October 21 at 3:00 pm. All entries should be taken to the CYBA offices at 2120 Young Avenue.  For application and more information, go to www.cooperyoungfestival.com/prefest.
