On Monday morning, at approximately 7:40 am, a resident’s purse was snatched after dropping her sons off at Peabody Elementary. The incident was reported to have occurred near the alley that runs north/south between Nelson and Oliver. This Thursday Peabody Elementary will hold the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new basketball court, which was generously provided by an anonymous donor. This is a very special occasion at the school and they are inviting the community to help them celebrate. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5:30 pm on the playground.

Do you have old electronics that you need to get rid of? Don’t toss them in the trash! Many electronics have components that are very harmful to the environment. Instead, E-cycle them by bringing them to The Commercial Appeal on Friday, April 20th between 9 am and 5 pm for proper disposal and recycling.
