Cooper-Young’s Burke’s Book Store, recently named by Real Simple magaize as the best bookstore in Tennessee, has a busy calendar of activities this month.

On April 19th, Burke’s hosts a reading and book signing by Mary Ann Connell at the Memphis Country Club. A noted Mississippi attorney, Connell is the author of “An Unforseen Life: A Memoir.” The event is at 2 p.m. at 600 Goodwyn St.

On April 22nd, Burke’s will host a party celebrating the publishing of “I’m Just Dead, I’m Not Gone,” the memoir of the late Memphis musician and music producer Jim Dickinson. Dickinson’s widow Mary Lindsay Dickinson will read from the book and there will be live music in the Cooper-Young gazebo. Details are to be determined.

Also in the works are Burke’s festivities for Independent Book Store Day on April 29th.

Burke’s is located at 936 Cooper. For more information, call 901-278-7484 or visit burkesbooks.com.
