November is the month of thanks, and we at the CYCA want to give thanks by providing for others in our community with our annual Suzzane Striker Memorial Food Drive. Every year, volunteers help us collect food for the First Congo Food Ministry. This amazing organization helps support over 150 of our neighbors each week through meal programs and over 350 families during their monthly grocery distribution. Dry and canned items are always welcome as are cash donations. Many clients are able to purchase groceries at the Mid-South Food Bank at about 7 cents per pound so cash can help spread the support even further.

There are three ways that you can help get involved. First, we need help delivering flyers about the food drive a couple weeks before the drive itself. To sign up for a route and arrange to pick up flyers, call the CYCA office at 272-2922 or email info@cooperyoung.org.

Second, you can fill a grocery bag with non-perishable food and place it on your curb by 9 am on Saturday, November 19st.

Finally, you can go to firstcongo.com/supportfirstcongo/ and make a donation. We’re excited to help support our neighbors and we hope you are, too! — Kristen Schebler
