The Cooper-Young Business Association, avid cyclists, and local leaders have teamed to organize a weekly community bike ride starting this spring.

The Cooper-Young Bike Night’s eight-week pilot run is planned for begin Thursday, April 4 and run through May 23. Riders will gather at the gazebo at 6:30 p.m. and the ride will start at 6:45 p.m. The 4-mile route will be published on Google Maps for riders to view ahead of time.

The goal of this event is to be a fun, laid back, family event that will give people an opportunity to meet each other and see our awesome neighborhood. Children who can ride without training wheels are welcome. This event is non-alcoholic.

Tamara Cook, executive director of the CYBA, will purchase glow sticks and streamers to give to riders for the first ride. Sylvia Crum, CYCA neighbor and cycle enthusiast, will bring her jam box to play music. The bike night team are open to ideas from riders for ideas to incorporate into future rides.

Organizers are also looking for riders to serve as front, between, and end leaders for each night. Interested parties can sign up at this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904054CA4AC3-cybike. For more information and to become involved, email cyba@bellsouth.net or info@cooperyoung.org.
