The Cooper-Young Garden Club is proud to announce that we are currently accepting applications for our inaugural “C Y We Beautify” grant program. We encourage all residents and civic groups to submit your creative ideas to beautify our neighborhood with plantings, art, and creative solutions to neighborhood concerns.

The Cooper Young Garden Club has set aside $2,000 to provide small-dollar grants for beautification. This program is funded by proceeds from our annual Cooper-Young Garden Walk. Eligible projects can win award amounts from $50-$500, until we reach our grant limit.

Groups and projects must meet the following criteria to be eligible for a CY Garden Club beautification grant:

The applicants and project must be located within the Cooper-Young “footprint,” specifically within the boundaries of Southern to Central Avenue, and McLean Blvd. to East Parkway Avenue.

IMPORTANT: Grant Deadlines

Oct-Feb 1, 2019: Ongoing applications accepted for review.

Nov- Feb., 2019: Projects chosen, partial check released.

By May 15, 2019: “C Y We Beautify” grant project should be completed.

By June 15, 2019: Submit final project summary, receive balance of award.

The project must be related to gardening, beautification, or safety, enhance our community, and cannot be to the benefit of an individual’s personal garden or property. Commercial properties are not eligible. The project must be visible from the street. The project must include matching funds equal to the requested amount. This can include volunteer time (sweat equity calculated at $15/hour), or contributions for the same identified project.

Projects must be completed by May 15, 2019, in time for our 2019 Garden Walk event.

June 15, 2019, the project summary results must be submitted, including copies of receipts and photos.

Only completed applications will be considered. Please submit the completed form to “CY Beautification Grant,” 899 Blythe, Memphis, TN 38104 or email to cooperyounggardenclub@gmail.com. The CY Garden Walk board, which meets monthly, will review and respond to your request within 4-6 weeks. Projects that are funded will receive 1/3 the amount up front and the final 2/3 when the project is completed and the project survey form is turned in.
