On May 19-20, 2017, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., the 3rd Annual Cooper-Young Garden Walk is going to happen all across our hip, vibrant neighborhood. We expect approximately 1,500 garden lovers and curiosity seekers to spend the day in our great community, spending money, sampling our delicious dining venues, shopping, enjoying the sunshine, hearing garden speakers, and touring 75-plus private and business gardens.

This is a big project, and we can’t do it alone. What can you do to help?

  1. Hang up our fliers at work and spread the word on your business and personal social media sites. The number of people we all know collectively is huge!
  2. The day of, sell tickets, direct visitors, or be a CY ambassador on the shuttle bus.
  3. Buy an early bird ticket for only $20 for both days. This helps us plan better, and gives you the chance to earn a gift basket full of surprises valued at more than $200.
  4. Donate a service, item, or gift certificate for the early bird ticket sales raffle. It’s a great way to promote your business or service.
  5. Spruce up your home or business with plants and garden related decor. We are known as a funky neighborhood. Why disappoint? Let your inner flower child reign and plant your garden space or porch in colorful flowers. If you need plants or ideas, please support Midtown Nursery, Waterworks, Palladio, and Urban Earth, to name a few local businesses.
  6. Survey your block. Wouldn’t it look amazing and feel cozy if you and your neighbors had a clean-up party to collect litter and trim overgrown bushes, etc? Many hands make light work. It’s also a good excuse for a party afterwards to celebrate.

Big Garden Walks are huge tourist draws across the country, and while this is only our third year, we expect it to grow like a weed. Please grow with us! We’re all looking forward to seeing your beautiful garden and block!

Thank you for your generous support in making this a wonderful event. All money raised is earmarked for future neighborhood beautification projects. You can reach me at 901-299-5887 or kimhalyak@me.com and let me know how you can help!
