As the Cooper-Young Community Association expands its zero waste goals for 2019, they are thinking outside the box. Something that is commonly ignored is energy conservation which can easily increase a user’s carbon footprint as well as the cost of their bill.
The CYCA has invited an expert in this field from Memphis Light, Gas & Water to come educate the community on how they can lower their energy bill while also helping the environment. CYCA office manager Amanda Yarbro-Dill will review how the CYCA office signed up for Green Power Switch, which enables customers to support green power by making monthly contributions on their MLGW bill. This is an easy way to meet your neighbors and learn some very useful info before summer starts and the heat takes over!
The meeting will be held May 14 at the CYCA office, 2298 Young Ave., at 6 p.m. Light fare and refreshments will be served. — Sheree Stubblefield
