We made it through another scorching festival weekend, and I’ve got two completely different subjects to talk about this month.
First, the 10th annual Cooper-Young Beerfest is coming up on October 19. This event is particularly important to me because I have been a part of the organizing committee since the inaugural event in 2010. As detailed in this month’s cover story, Orion Federal Credit Union joined us as a new sponsor and made it possible for us to offer a special anniversary ticket package this year. This event wouldn’t happen without the other volunteers on the organizing committee. Andy Ashby has been on the committee since the beginning. Doug Carriker and Stephanie Gonzalez joined several years ago, and Bryan Hamilton joined the team this year. We have a great event planned for this big anniversary, and we hope you can join us.
Second, it is with mixed feelings that we are saying farewell to Amanda Yarbro-Dill as our office manager at the CYCA. Amanda has been great to work with and has always been proactive and willing to help out in any way that she can. I hate to see her leave, but I know we will see her and her family around CY. Also, I am excited for her new opportunity working full-time for the Levitt Shell. Please thank Amanda for her service to the CYCA and buy her a drink next time you see her around the neighborhood.
Cheers! — Mark Morrison
