We are living in unprecedented times, and the impact of the coronavirus is reaching everything and everyone, including the Cooper-Young Community Association.
This week, we made the difficult decision to suspend production of the LampLighter newspaper for the time being. The April edition will be our last for now. Because the paper is delivered by hand to each home in Cooper-Young, we felt this was a necessary precaution to combat the spread of the virus. Additionally, the CYCA is uncertain about what the rest of 2020 may look like. We are therefore making every cost-cutting measure we can to keep our small non-profit financially solvent.
As with all measures being taken right now, we hope this is only a brief pause in the life of our little newspaper, which has been a mainstay of Cooper-Young for more than 25 years. We will continue to keep you updated online — including with ways to support our small businesses and neighbors affected by this epidemic. Please follow us on social media, and subscribe to our weekly newsletter at cooperyoung.org.
