I never would have predicted the conditions in which I am writing my last letter from the president! I hope you are maintaining both your mental and physical health in the unprecedented conditions we find ourselves in now. I have been working from home for the past week or more and trying to implement social distancing as best as possible. Just like many other businesses, please know that the CYCA is trying to keep working as best as we can without unnecessary exposure of board members, our executive director, residents, and other people. Along those lines, the office will be closed and our planned events cancelled until further notice. However, Amanda Yarbro-Dill is still working from home and will respond to both emails and voicemails if you need us.
One event we can’t cancel is the elections for president and treasurer, which will occur on April 14. More details on the election can be found in this edition of the paper, but electronic voting via email (info@cooperyoung.org) by members in good standing will be accepted from 8 a.m. on April 14 until 5 p.m. on April 15. Per our bylaws, we are required to hold these elections and achieve a quorum of members in order to continue our operations. Thus, we need the help of all members to achieve this goal.
Provided we can reach our quorum, Stephanie Gonzalez will be our new president and will be writing these letters to you every month starting in May. However, I won’t be disappearing. I will still be on the board and will be moving to the position of treasurer.
Please check on your neighbors and continue to support our local businesses as you are able during these uncertain times.
Stay safe and healthy! — Mark Morrison
