On November 2nd, the Cooper-Young Business Association held a reception at Peabody Elementary School to announce this year’s winners of the 2017 Young Artist Contest.

This post-festival event is held annually to encourage the love of art in school age children residing in the Mid-South. The contest, sponsored by Evolve Bank and Trust, is open to children grades 1-12 from Memphis and surrounding communities.

The CYBA received 356 entries —  more than double last year’s amount — for the contest, which had a theme of “Cooper Young Celebrates Local Art and Music” in honor of the recent milestone 30th annual Cooper-Young Festival.

First, second, third, and honorable mention prizes were awarded in three grade brackets: 1st-4th, 5th-8th, and 9th-12th. First place winners received $500, second place $100, third place $75, and honorable mention $50.
