The Cooper-Young Business Association annual election meeting was held at Strano on Tuesday, January 23. Special guest speakers included Mary Borys, HCD Project Manager, City of Memphis, Division of Housing and Community Development. Borys discussed plans for the redevelopment of the Fairgrounds. Neal Oldham, Assistant District Attorney General, spoke about the new anti-trespass program that he has initiated in Shelby County for business owners.

Thirty-nine business owners were in attendance for the election of the 2018 CYBA Board of Directors. With 55 members on this date, the proposed board was elected.

The 2018 Board of Directors are:

  • Steve Womack (State Farm Insurance), president
  • Charlie Ryan (Central Exchange), vice president
  • Stephen Crump (Crump Designs), vice president
  • David Milem (Milem Engineering), secretary
  • Dr. Stephen Tower (Memphis Animal Clinic), treasurer
  • Bill Stemmler (Iberia Bank), festival chair
  • Katie Smythe (New Ballet Ensemble)
  • Cameron Mann (Young Avenue Sound)
  • Ryan Trimm (Sweet Grass/Next Door)
  • Scott Lebowitz (Inbalance Fitness)
  • Sharon Johnson (Stone Soup Café)
  • Jon Anderson (Heartbeat Productions)
  • Will Batts (OUT Memphis)
  • Ray Rico (Ray Rico Freelance)
