As another year ends and we celebrate with family and friends, the Cooper-Young Community Association would like to celebrate the people who make everything we do possible.

The CYCA would not be what it is without its volunteers, who make Cooper-Young the hip, funky neighborhood that attracts thousands of visitors a year. If not for the volunteers, popular events such as the Festival Friday 4-Miler and the Cooper-Young Beerfest simply could not happen. Even this newspaper you are reading could not be delivered to your doorstep without them.

If you have ever been one of those volunteers, the CYCA would like to invite you our annual Holliday Volunteer Appreciation Party. Interested in volunteering? Live in the neighborhood? Come on by; you are invited as well. It’s a great opportunity to come and kick back with your fellow volunteers and neighbors and be treated to some wonderful food by Stone Soup Cafe. There will also be adult refreshments, and you are welcome to BYOB. To add some kick to this year’s event, we are adding an ugly sweater party to the event. So be sure you wear your most outlandish holiday sweater so you can win a prize.

The Cooper-Young Community Association’s Holiday Volunteer Appreciation Party is Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at our office, 2298 Young Ave. — Sheree Stubblefield
