The Cooper-Young Community Association recently welcomed a new office coordinator, Sarah LaReau, to the team.
Sarah applied for the position after several friends sent her the job posting.
“It seemed like such a good fit because I am already involved in the neighborhood and have a flexible schedule,” LaReau said.
LaReau also works for Cooper-Young record store Goner Records in digital operations, managing their record label catalog, social media, and anything interactive/technical such as the website. This expertise will be a big asset to the CYCA, which was one of the reasons she was considered for the position.
Personally, LaReau is looking forward to the opportunity to get more acquainted with the neighborhood —from residents to board members to businesses — that the job presents her.
“First, I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better, and then I’m looking forward to getting involved hands-on with CYCA projects and neighborhood activities along with my regular office duties,” she says.
This position was also perfect for LaReau because of her love for Cooper-Young (and its proximity to Goner).
“CY is quirky,” she says. “I stayed here several times at an Airbnb when I used to visit from out of town for live music shows. I like that it feels safe without being stuffy, and it seems to celebrate creativity and diversity.”
