Belated Happy New Year to you. Since this is the first edition of The Lamplighter in 2020, I haven’t had a chance to say that and update you on recent changes at the Cooper-Young Community Association. It is with mixed emotions that I write that Sheree Stubblefield is leaving the CYCA at the end of January to take a full-time job with The Orpheum. Sheree has been fantastic to work with over the past year and a half, and multiple community stakeholders have echoed how much they have enjoyed her tenure here. The CYCA board hates to see her leave, but we are excited for her new opportunity and hope that she will stay involved with the CY community.
In addition, Sarah LaReau left her position as the office manager recently, which left the Board considering whether to keep two part-time positions or combine them into one full-time position again. Fortunately, Amanda Yarbro-Dill has agreed to return to the CYCA to become our full-time Executive Director in February. As you probably remember, Amanda has lived in CY for about eight years and served as our office manager for about one and a half years. We are thrilled to have Amanda return to apply her initiative and good ideas in her new role. When you see Amanda at our upcoming events, in the office, or around the neighborhood, please congratulate her on her new role with the CYCA. — Mark Morrison
