The holidays are the perfect time to give back, and every year the Cooper-Young Community Association takes the opportunity to give back to the Memphis Fire and Police Departments. These brave men and women tirelessly serve our community throughout the year, even on Christmas, so we show our appreciation by delivering treat bags to those neighborhood police and firefighters assigned to work Christmas Eve.

To pull this off we need your help assembling goodies and stuffing bags on Christmas Eve. We will accept individually wrapped store-bought treats or handmade goodies from 6-7 p.m. at the CYCA office at 2298 Young. The official bag stuffing will start at 7 p.m. We want to fill the bags with portable treats and beverages so be sure to bring enough for 80 bags. If you would like to bring your items before Christmas Eve, please email info@cooperyoung.org to make arrangements. Do not hesitate to add a personal touch from you and your family. Bags will be delivered for 10 p.m. roll call that night.

This is one of our favorite events of the year and is great to share with the kids. Every bag is filled with holiday cheer and appreciation, so please join us in this wonderful annual tradition. — Sheree Stubblefield
