The holiday season is a perfect time to give our thanks to the men and women of the Memphis police and fire departments. These dedicated civil servants help us all throughout the year, so let’s once again come together to show our love and appreciation for these brave individuals by stuffing treat bags for those officers and firefighters assigned to work Christmas Eve.

Come on out to the Cooper-Young Community Association office at 2298 Young on Christmas to volunteer and fill bags with portable treats and drinks for the Memphis fire and police departments. If you would like to donate some holiday refreshments, you can drop items to our office between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on December 24th. We try to put together between 70 and 90 bags so be sure to bring enough goodies for everyone. Bags will be delivered for 10 p.m. roll call that night. Homemade and store-bought treats are welcome, and we encourage everyone to include your family’s information for that special personal touch. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the office by 6 p.m. on December 22nd or brought to the office from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 24th.

This is one of our favorite events all year and is even great to share with the kids! Every bag is filled with Holiday cheer and appreciation so please join us in this wonderful annual tradition. — Kristen Schebler
