Did you know the CYCA runs entirely on the support of our members and community? That means we are fully funded by you! You may not know this but there are multiple ways to help support the CYCA financially. So if you have been wondering, “How can I give back to the CYCA?,” keep reading!
Through your membership
Cooper-Young has over 1600 households in the neighborhood. Of that we have less than 25% registered with the CYCA. We know. We’re sad too. Memberships for a household are only $20 a year and $5 a year for seniors. We also have other memberships such as Lamplighter Benefactor which is $60 a year. To choose your level of membership, go to cooperyoung.org/membership-join. There, you can also see all the perks you receive with your membership. You do not have to live in CY to be a member either. This is an easy way to support the association while supporting yourself as well!
You are also welcome to give a plain old donation anytime you would like.
Through your purchases
Did you know you can assign the CYCA as your charity of choice at Kroger and Amazon and they will donate a percentage of your purchase to the CYCA? That way you are giving back to the CYCA without thinking about it!
For amazon, sign into smile.amazon.com (which you must do each time you shop). From your desktop, go to Your Account from the navigation at the top of any page, and then select Your Amazon Smile. Or, from your mobile browser, select Change your Charity from the options at the bottom of the page. Then type in Cooper-Young Community Association and you are ready to go! Remember to always shop from the URL smile.amazon.com. There is also a browser extension called Smilematic using this link: https://couponfollow.com/smilematic. It will redirect you to smile.amazon.com automatically whenever you shop Amazon so you don’t forget to type it in.
For Kroger, sign into your Kroger Plus account and go to Your Account and click on Community Rewards on the left side. Search for “cooper young” and then click enroll. Make sure you always shop with your Plus Card for us to get a donation.
Through your attendance
Every year we have our CY 4 Miler which has been going on since 1992 along with our famous after party. This event is fun and also our largest fundraiser. Registering for this event as a runner or spirit runner or joining us at the party are easy ways to support the CYCA. 100% of the proceeds come back to us.
Our other very popular annual event is the Beerfest which is October 19, 2019. Tickets are on sale now! We invite regional breweries to Memphis so that you can enjoy new beers, hear live music and purchase swag from the breweries. This event sells out almost every year and your attendance helps support our association. Not a beer drinker? Not a problem! You can attend free as a designated driver with your guest.
