This year, we are going zero waste in Cooper-Young and we are inviting you to be a part of that mission. The CY 4 Miler/Treslefest and the CY Festival happen Friday night and Saturday morning, respectively, each year. With that, comes a lot of visitors to our humble neighborhood which means parking comes at a premium.
With that in mind, here are all your transportation options for this weekend that don’t include driving your own car. Besides your decreased carbon footprint, Southern Heritage is also happening on Saturday which means more crowds so all the more reason to not try to park your car. Keep reading to learn how easy it is to go green with us!
Bike or Scooter!
If you live near Cooper-Young, consider biking or riding an electric scooter to the 4 Miler and the CY Festival. Both events offer a bike valet.
CY 4 Miler: Staffed Bike Valet by The Bikesmith Truck at Memphis Made . Anyone who valets can enter a raffle for free tune-up!
CY Festival: Staffed Bike Corral from 9-7 at Bluff City Sports Lot on Cooper at York.
Check out where your closest Bird, Bolt or Spin Scooter is for a fun, fast way to get to the events. Make sure you look both ways and remember don’t drink and scoot!
Rideshare!
This is an easy one. Grab your friends and hop in a LYFT or Uber to get to and from both events. Or even go old school and call a cab. That way you can have fun (and drink) without having to worry about a designated driver.
Shuttle!
CY Festival: Park your car in the CBU (650 E Pkway) parking lot entering off Central Avenue and catch the shuttle over to the entrance of the Festival. Handicap parking is available. These credit/debit only shuttle services will run from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is $5 each way. They will be looping down Cooper north to Union to Hollywood. They will pick up passengers on the route. This is an easy way to get to the Fest without circling the neighborhood multiple time in your attempt to find a parking spot.
Bus!
While the 4 Miler doesn’t have a shuttle here are the bus routes that come directly into Cooper-Young and help to avoid the hassle of parking. The 2, 5, 32, 35 and 56 are all direct. The 2 and 35 do not run on Saturday. Keep in mind, the bus is cash only, costs $1.75 and there is no change given.
Walk!
No need to explain this one.
We hope this nifty guide helps you get to the biggest weekend in Cooper-Young with no stress! Merry Cooper-Young Christmas everybody!
Here are some other reminders:
Everyone who wants to drink MUST have an ID at Trestlefest. It is $10 for non-runners and you get unlimited pizza and beer while supplies last.
Please no dogs, strollers, scooters, drones or backpacks on the CY Festival site.
